Do you know? Your customers form an opinion about your website in just 3 seconds!

38% of people say they will not explore a site if it is unattractive!

So, how do you set yourself up for online success?

It’s important to understand what to avoid in website design if you want to have a successful and customer-focused online presence.

This article helps you to focus on design skills while removing unnecessary complexity.

When designing, there are multiple factors to avoid. If you are new to this field, you may not be aware of all of them.

Here are 7 powerful web design don’ts to keep in mind during your website design and development.

So, without any further delay, let’s get started.

EFFECTIVE DON’TS OF WEB DESIGN PROCESS

1. Don’t use too many fonts

When you first start designing a website, it’s easy to use five or six different fonts, or even upload your own.

However, it is preferable to avoid that temptation. Too many font changes can be distracting, confusing, and even frustrating.

2. Don’t make users wait too long

47% of people want a web page to load in less than two seconds.

The loading time of your website is essential to its growth.

If your website takes a long time to load, visitors may grow frustrated and leave.

As a result, while developing a website, speed should be at the top of your priority list.

This will help you get Google’s favor and rank better in search results.

3. Avoid using too many colors

Your website’s color scheme reflects your brand and beliefs.

Using too many colors on a website can give users confused feelings.

It has the potential to make everything complicated.

It is preferable to select a color theme and develop your website accordingly.

4. Don’t use background music or autoplay music videos

Unwanted music or sound might bother and perhaps cause difficulties.

For example, users may be browsing your site at work, in a public location, or near someone who is sleeping, and unexpected music could quickly turn them away.

Autoplay videos included in a block of material, like background music, upset users.

They should be used sparingly, just when necessary and expected.

5. Too many Pop-ups

Don’t show it too frequently; if you show it on every page, the users will become annoyed, which we don’t want.

Learn how to make a spectacular and fashionable popup without detracting from the user experience.

6. Keyword stuffing

In the early days, SEO professionals just spammed keywords into the web content to improve their search rankings.

However, search engines are sharper than you think, and if you spam keywords too much, crawlers will ignore everything. So don’t.

7. Don’t create complex navigation

When users visit your website, they are more likely to scan the screen than read everything.

As a designer, you should guide them with this by creating a good visual hierarchy.

Make important elements, such as screen titles, login forms, navigation items, or other important content, a focal point so that visitors see them immediately away.

Conclusion

Your audience expects a fantastic experience when they visit your website.

If you don’t meet their demands, they’ll go to your competitor, which could be just a click away.

Avoid these above 7 don’ts of web design in order to building a successful high-converting website.

With every design decision, consider what is best for the visitor and try to make the experience as enjoyable as possible.
